KALIBO, Aklan – A woman in Barangay Bel-is, Buruanga, Aklan was hospitalized after being hit by a stray bullet past 12 midnight yesterday, police said.

The 45-year-old resident Noly Ursua sustained an injury on the right thigh.

She was rushed to the Malay Municipal Hospital in Barangay Motag and later transferred to the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital in this capital town for further treatment.

Ursua said she, her husband and their six children were already sleeping when the incident happened.

Posibleng bala ng baril ang tumama sa akin mula sa bubong na yero ng bahay namin. Natutulog kami nang makaramdam ako ng pamamanhid ng binti,” Ursua said. She was still confined at the hospital as of this writing.

A surgical operation will be performed on Ursua to remove the bullet.

Police found a bullet hole at Ursua’s home. They were still investigating.
