KALIBO, Aklan – A man was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Banga, Aklan.
The 29-year-old Dave Oquendo of Barangay Feliciano, Balete, Aklan is “street-level” drug target, police said.
He was caught after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P2,000 around 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 11 along Diversion Road in Barangay Mambog, a police report showed.
Officers from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Banga municipal police station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency staged the sting operation.
“One week ang transaction namin sa kanya at under surveillance for one month,” said PDEU head Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade.
According to Andrade, Oquendo is operating in Banga and Balete.
“Galing dito sa Aklan ang supply niya. Gumagamit ang suspek at ni-recycle niya ang droga para ma-sustain niya ang bisyo. Under monitoring din siya ng Balete police kaso hindi nag-surrender sa Tokhang,” Andrade added.
When frisked, Oquendo yielded a mobile phone, lighter and a bladed weapon.
He was detained in the lockup cell of the Banga municipal police station.
He faces charges for violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
