ILOILO City – A string of criminal charges have been filed against the suspect in the death of a trader and his son, and the wounding of the trader’s wife at the public plaza of Mandurriao district.
At the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office, 18-year-old Jay-R Muana of Barangay Mambagaton, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental was accused of two counts of murder, frustrated murder and concealing his true name.
The complaints were filed on Oct. 24, according to Chief Inspector Juvy Navales of the Mandurriao police station.
Muana, currently detained at the Mandurriao police station, initially claimed he was 19-year-old Mark Ganava of Himamaylan City. The police, however, discovered his charade after the parents of Ganava in Himamaylan set the record straight.
Muana admitted hammering to death 29-year-old Muamar Ditingki and five-month-old son Mohamed before dawn on Oct. 22 while they were sleeping inside their kiosk at the Mandurriao plaza.
Muana said he wanted to get back at Ditingki for chiding him a few days ago.
From what the Mandurriao police gathered from its counterpart in Himamaylan, Muana fled from the Negros Occidental city to evade arrest following a rumble there./PN
