ROXAS City – A suspect accused of extorting money from a call center agent was arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Wednesday in President Roxas, Capiz.
Twenty-six-year-old Fermart Fuentes, an agriculture student from Capiz State University-Bailan Campus, is facing charges for robbery extortion after he allegedly demanded money from a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) agent named “Liezel,” 21 – not her real name – in exchange for the nude pictures and a video of the latter.
“Liezel,” a resident of Barangay Poblacion in President Roxas, claimed she received a message three weeks ago from a Facebook user with an account name “Ako lang sapat na” which said he was in possession of her nude pictures including a video.
“Liezel” explained she doesn’t remember taking nude pictures nor a video of herself. The suspect, she said, even sent her a picture of his erect penis as proof that he has her pictures.
“Hundred percent ako nga sure nga wala ako nude pictures kag video nga gin kuha ko o kon gin hatagan ko,” the victim said.
“Liezel” at first ignored the indecent acts of the suspect but she ultimately decided to report the matter to the authorities after he kept on bothering her. The suspect likewise demanded an amount of P7,000 in exchange for the pictures.
An entrapment operation was arranged by the CIDG led by Senior Police Inspector Manuel Gorobat, Jr.
Fuentes set his meeting with “Liezel” in Barangay Poblacion and covered his face with a cloth to avoid being identified by “Liezel,” the police said.
After the victim handed him an enveloped which contained the agreed amount, CIDG operatives trooped in leading to his arrest.
After removing his face cover, “Liezel” immediately recognized Fuentes as they are residents of the same barangay.
Fuentes confessed he actually doesn’t have any pictures or video of “Liezel” but was only tempted to demand for money because of his remaining payables in school which he needs to settle.
Fuentes was detained at the President Roxas lock-up facility and faces a robbery extortion case./PN
