BACOLOD City – A Grade 10 student in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, was arrested for bringing a hand grenade to school yesterday morning.
The 21-year-old Bronson Lucas Lacson was a student at the Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School and a resident of Barangay Zone 6, Talisay City.
Tricycle driver Rolando Dionson complained to the police that Lacson threatened him with the grenade during an argument while Dionson was driving the student to school.
The Talisay city police, together with the Special Weapons and Tactics team and the Explosive Ordnance Division, responded.
Students were evacuated, and classes were suspended. A K9 unit was also brought in for the clearing operation.
City police deputy chief Lieutenant Abegail Donasco said aside from the grenade, police also recovered a sachet of marijuana and a tooter.
Lacson told the authorities that the hand grenade was just a dead drop on him. A dead drop is a method of espionage tradecraft used to pass items or information between two individuals using a secret location.
Lacson will be facing charges of grave threat, illegal possession of explosives, and possession of illegal drugs, added Donasco.
He is currently being held at the Talisay City Police Station./PN
