A CERTAIN social-climbing fool posted on Twitter that “President Rodrigo Duterte will block ABS-CBN even if Congress awards it a new franchise”, and this fool commented that this is fascism.
In this fool’s haste in trying to be clever on social media, he conveniently omitted the rest of Duterte’s statement and just posted out of context what would suit his biases.
Excerpts from last Monday’s weekly televised national address of President Rodrigo Duterte: “Congress is planning to restore the franchise of the Lopezes. Wala akong problema doon. But if you say they can operate, I will not allow it. I will not allow the NTC to grant them the permit to operate. Unless in a deal the Lopezes will pay their taxes, I will not give them the license to operate. Allowing the network to operate without payment of taxes would be nonsense. Kalokohan ‘yan. It’s like giving them a prize for committing a crime.”
By taxes, President Duterte was referring to ABS-CBN’s P1.6-billion loans in 2006 from the government’s Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). The bank has denied accusations it had written off the loans.
“In the case of the NPLs and NPAs of the Lopez entities, there was no condemnation or write-off,” DBP president and chief executive officer Emmanuel Herbosa had said.
I believe the proper term for this is not fascism but collecting overdue loans, or simply demanding from the Lopezes what is due for the government. These so-called wokes trying to be clever only succeeds in making themselves look like desperately trying hard idiots.
Since when is demanding payment for long overdue loans fascism?
Meanwhile, it defies logic and plain common sense why Leni Robredo, a middle-aged woman, would speak in an ersatz colegiala girlish manner when she’s not even a colegiala in the first place. To think real colegialas don’t even speak that way; they speak proper English. Only Kris Aquino speaks that way.
Leni Robredo, who claims to be the Vice President of the Philippines, can’t even speak straight English much less Tagalog. She is not only an embarrassment but an irritant as well.
“I have three daughters and they’re all girls” and the latest “1947”, just to name a couple of Leni’s classic faux pas.
Incidentally, I watched “Usapang bakuna with Leni” and I was entertained and a bit amused. Actually it’s not bad, she was right on cue and memorized all her lines. Reminds me of those detergent or cooking oil commercials. I believe Leni’s true calling is a television commercial talent. She’s a natural.

Bruce Jenner a.k.a. Caitlyn Jenner is now the epitome of a woman in the United States of America.
I read somewhere that “Creepy Joe” a.k.a. Joe Biden admires “her” for coming out as a “real woman”.
You’re not a woman trapped in a man’s body or man trapped in a woman’s body; you’re just suffering from gender dysphoria and you should seek psychosocial treatment, not mutilate yourself through surgery. Your malady is akin to anorexia and other body-dysmorphic disorder
For the uninformed:
Gender dysphoria is the feeling of discomfort or distress that might occur in people whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics.
Transgender and gender-nonconforming people might experience gender dysphoria at some point in their lives. But not everyone is affected. Some transgender and gender-nonconforming people feel at ease with their bodies, either with or without medical intervention.
Gender dysphoria is a diagnosis listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a manual published by the American Psychiatric Association to diagnose mental conditions.
This term is intended to be more descriptive than the one that was previously used, gender identity disorder. The term gender dysphoria focuses on one’s discomfort as the problem, rather than identity. A diagnosis for gender dysphoria was created to help people get access to necessary health care and effective treatment.
By the way, “Subway”is a food stall specializing in made-to-order sandwiches. It’s been there for decades. I hope Noynoy Aquino’s “devotees to the cult of the yellow ribbon” wouldn’t have the temerity to claim credit that it was Noynoy Aquino’s idea./PN
