BACOLOD City – The southbound portion of the Sum-ag bridge along Araneta Street in this city’s Barangay Sum-ag is temporarily closed to motorists for 15 days.

Jose Antonio Robello, deputy officer-in-charge of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office, disclosed that the Department of Public Works and Higways’ contractor carried out concrete pouring for the expansion project.

Due to the said activity in the area, a two-week curing period is required, he explained.

The pouring was done last Jan. 31, and the bridge will likely be passable by Feb. 15.

“Because of the temporary closure of the southbound bridge, traffic congestion is expected along the area of Araneta Street. Motorists going south are using one of the two northbound lanes of the Sum-ag bridge,” Robello said.

He advised the motorists to travel early in order not to be late for their appointments or try passing through the alternative road in Barangay Cabug./PN
