ILOILO City – The P2.261-billion Iloilo River North Bank Road, also known as Iloilo Sunset Boulevard, will ease traffic congestion and connect Iloilo City with nearby municipalities, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Region 6 is ready to open to vehicular traffic the boulevard on Jan. 24.

The boulevard features amenities like esplanades, viewing decks, bike lanes, walkways, and lush landscaping, providing a scenic, eco-friendly commuting experience.

According to DPWH-6 regional director Sanny Boy Oropel, tis multi-year project, which covers a five-kilometer stretch from Molo to Mandurriao, Iloilo City, will enhance connectivity with the Oton-Pakiad-Mandurriao Road and the Iloilo Circumferential Road (C-1).

For his part, Mayor Jerry Treñas said the boulevard has a dual purpose: improving traffic flow and offering a recreational space for both residents and visitors.

The opening next week will include biking and tree-planting activities.
