Superliga: Power Hitters rolls past Lifesavers

MANILA – PLDT Home Fibr Power Hitters, leaning on the exploits of Kendra Dahlke, scored a thrilling 25-21, 20-25, 29-27, 13-25, 15-12 victory over Generika-Ayala Lifesavers in the 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix yesterday at the San Juan Arena.

The hard-hitting American reinforcement delivered 27 kills, two blocks and an ace to finish with a conference-best 30 points on top of 16 digs.

The Power Hitters improved to 4-4 win-loss slate.

“Kendra was tremendous, especially in the third set. Her offense was truly a big help for us,” said Power Hitters head coach Roger Gorayeb. “It’s what we need from her. Good thing she played well today. I think this is her best game so far.”

After spearheading the attack for the Power Hitters in the third set, where they clawed back from a 17-23 deficit, Dahlke showed her offensive muscles in the deciding fifth set to clinch the win.

Aside from Dahlke, PLDT’s other import in Grace Lazard was also instrumental with double-double 18 points with 10 excellent receptions.

Aiko Urdas and Shola Alvarez chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Power Hitters.

Setter Jasmine Nabor dished out 28 excellent sets for the winning squad while libero Lizlee Pantone also came to play as he protected the floor with 27 digs and 16 excellent receptions.

Thai import Kanjana Kuthaisong had double-double 27 points and 16 excellent receptions while Ilongga Fiola Ceballos and Kseniya Kocyigit added 18 and 17 points, respectively, for the Lifesavers (1-7)./PN
