BACOLOD City – Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia appealed to new and re-elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to cooperate with his administration.
He said he hopes that the officials would be “a part of his administration” so that development in the city can be fast-tracked.
Leonardia cited his good relationship with Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Rep. Greg Gasataya, stressing that it gives “better results” as much as the city is concerned.
The mayor said this during Wednesday’s induction of new SK officials in Bacolod. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R).
Leonardia inducted the second batch of SK officials who attended the mandatory training in compliance with the SK Reform Act of 2015.
They were from barangays 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, Alangilan, Alijis, Banago, Bata, Cabug, Estefania, Felisa, Granada, Handumanan, Mandalagan, Mansilingan, Montevista, Pahanocoy, Punta Taytay, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, Taculing, Tangub, Villamonte, and Vista Alegre.
The first batch – composed of SK officials from barangays 1, 2, 3, 4, ,5 ,6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 – attended the training and the mass oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has partnered with the National Youth Commission, Local Youth Development Office, and UNO-R for the conduct of the SK training.
The training covered topics such as governance and decentralization, the SK history, holding meetings and making resolutions, planning and budgeting, and the code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials./PN
