Supreme Court names 24 new Ilonggo judges

ILOILO City – The Supreme Court has announced the appointment by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of 24 new trial court judges.

The 24 judges are among the 80 new magistrates named by the Supreme Court on Aug. 30, following receipt of their appointment papers from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

In Iloilo City, the newly appointed Regional Trial Court judges are Meliza Joan Berano-Robite of the RTC Branch 29; Kareen dela Cruz, RTC Branch 5 Family;  Rysty Ann Espinosa-Borja, RTC Branch 35; Larnie Fleur Palma-Kim, RTC Branch 26; and Gladys Pearl Palabrica, RTC Branch 6 Family Court in Dumangas, Iloilo.

The other newly appointed RTC judges are Joan Marie Bargas-Betita, RTC Branch 14, Roxas City, Capiz;  Jomar Alyzar Betita, RTC Branch 4 Family Court in Jordan, Guimaras; Maria Margarita Estrada-Matutinao, RTC Branch 5, Kalibo, Aklan; Joy Infante-Guilot, RTC Branch 63, Roxas City, Capiz; Ethel Sanson, RTC Branch 66 Barotac Viejo; Vinalyn Potot-Baluran, RTC 2 Family Court in San Jose, Antique; Jonee Bill Taneza, RTC Branch 12 in San Jose, Antique; Marie Fe M. Taal, RTC Branch 1 Family Court.

The newly appointed Municipal Trial Courts judges include Mia Laine Catalan-Dabao, MTCC Branch 1 MTC; Adri Anne Montes-Española, MTC in Oton, Iloilo;  and Lyle Rose Troncoso, MTC in San Joaquin, Iloilo.

The newly appointed Municipal Trial Court in Cities judges also include Aida Raissa Espinosa, Branch 4, MTCC in Roxas City, Capiz; Mae Catalan-Dabao, MTCT Branch 1, Iloilo City; Melinaire Jalipa-Diamante, Branch 3 MTCC in Iloilo City; and Lowell Frederick Madrileno, MCTC Branch 5, Iloilo City.

The Municipal Circuit Trial Courts newest judges also include Lee Ferdinand Caiban, MCTC Branch 14, Sta. Barbara-Pavia, Iloilo; Kristin Marie Falalimpa, MCTC 1 in Tobias Fornie-Hamtic, Antique; Philip Torres, MCTC Branch 6, Altavas-Balete, Aklan; and Ronilo Pamonag, MCTC Branch 5, Barotac Viejo-San Rafael-Banate-Anilao, Iloilo; and Roy Villa, MCTC Branch 9 in Zarraga-New Lucena-Leganes, Iloilo.

On the other hand, the four new justices to the Court of Appeals are associate justices Ferdinand Baylon, Marietta Brawner-Cualing, Mary Josephine Lazaro, and Emilio Rodolfo Legaspi III, the SC Public Information Office said.

Likewise, the SC also said that from Sept. 1 to Dec. 1, 2024, first-level and second-level courts all over the country will slowly transition to electronic filing for civil cases.

“By Sept. 1, all civil filings must include electronic versions of hard copies, or else the courts will not act on them,” the SC said in its advisory./PN
