THE MISSILE started moving overnight. It was spotted moving at night to avoid surveillance. Actually, it was the most powerful among the six nuclear tests so far.
You guessed it right. North Korea successfully conducted a test of an extraordinarily powerful hydrogen bomb. It was intended to be loaded onto an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
Basically, these ICBMs are guided ballistic missiles with a minimum range of 3,400 miles. They are primarily designed for nuclear weapons delivery. Most modern-day designs support multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicles (MIRVs), allowing a single missile to carry several warheads. These warheads can strike different targets at the same time.
This brings so much threat to different countries like South Korea, Japan, Australia and, of course, the US because the ICBMs have the capacity to reach western parts.
Why so much hate and threat? Two main reasons. And it all boils down with what North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, can do – as the Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea and as the supreme leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or North Korea.
First, Kim has complete power and control over his nation’s funds. Second, he has complete control over his territory.
As the supreme leader of his country, he has demanded all necessary resources be diverted to his deadly ambition. Also, he has absolute control over the lives of millions of people who live in his isolated, rusting state. He has dominated his impoverished and suppressed population. And we don’t know how much power he shares with his military leaders.
But even with the surge in tension, I think the US will still prefer diplomacy to alter North Korea’s actions. Still, the US is backed up by military options very necessary to have.
This North Korea nuclear-armed agenda is almost a reality. This is what Kim yearns for most of the time. For him, this is power that will help him continue his dictatorship and his family domination.
These past few days, the normality of these events is noteworthy. But of course, all of these could change with an inopportune and aggressive act. Be ready to act.
