CAPIZ – The peaceful New Year’s celebration of a family in Sitio Malamig, Barangay Poblacion, Sapian turned violent. Three individuals got injured.
Emmanuel Ledesma, 41, who was under the influence of alcohol, allegedly took issue with the loud sound system of his relatives Robert Ledesma, 66, and Robert’s son Jelbert.
According to Lieutenant Merry Chris dela Cruz, chief of the Sapian Municipal Police Station, Emmanuel threw stones at the victims’ house. Robert and Gilbert’s confrontation with him quickly escalated.
A certain “Sheena” who intervened to stop the conflict was also hurt.
A 20-inch knife was confiscated from the suspect following his apprehension.
Gilbert remains hospitalized at the Mambusao District Hospital due to chest and arm injuries, while Robert has been discharged.
The family is determined to pursue charges against the suspect./PN
