ILOILO – A suspect in the hacking of a laborer in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan, Iloilo surrendered to the police.
According to Niel Porras of Barotac Nuevo town, he got so frightened after hacking colleague Mark Loloy that he fled on Wednesday night.
Prior to the hacking, Porras and Loloy went on a drinking binge.
They then had an argument over their wages, said Porras.
If the suspect were to be believed, Loloy tried to hack him first with a bolo.
Porras said he managed to dodge Loloy then wrested the bolo from his colleague.
This angered Loloy all the more so he punched Porras, claimed the suspect.
Porras said this left him with no choice but to defend himself, and so he hacked Loloy.
Loloy was taken to the Western Visayas Medical Center. As of this writing, he was already out of danger.
Porras surrendered on Thursday.
Both victim and suspect worked at an ulingan (a shop for making charcoal)./PN
