ILOILO City – Policemen spotted a suspected bet collector for the illegal numbers game “bookies” on San Juan Street, Passi City.
The 51-year-old Renato Somido of Palmares Street, Passi City was taken to the city police station.
Around 5:55 p.m. on Friday, Somido was caught in the act of soliciting bets for “bookies.”

Somido faces a charge for violation of Republic Act 9287 (an Act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games, amending certain provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1602, and for other purposes).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), the suspect faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
