ILOILO – Two senior citizens died of drowning in separate incidents recently.
A man’s lifeless body was found in a river in Sitio Luyo, Barangay Culasi, Roxas City.
The drowning victim was identified as Salvador Dela Cruz of the said barangay.
A resident reported the grim discovery to the Roxas City police on Sunday, Dec. 10.
It was learned that the victim had been suffering from tuberculosis and had recently been experiencing worsening symptoms.
The Dela Cruz family believed that there was no foul play.
Meanwhile, in Negros Occidental, a 62-year-old woman was found dead in a river in Sitio Tagbak, Barangay Tan-awan, Kabankalan City.
The drowning victim was identified as Vilma Muleta.
Based on an initial investigation by the authorities, the victim took her carabao to graze on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 9, and went to the woods to rest.
However, Muleta failed to return home and was later reported missing by her husband./PN
