ILOILO – Two individuals, suspected to have died of drowning, were found separately in Concepcion, Iloilo, and Roxas City, Capiz, yesterday, Dec. 26.

The lifeless body of Gene Nopueto, a resident of Barangay Talotu-an in Concepcion, was found by local fishermen floating in the waters of the town’s Barangay Tambaliza at approximately 9 a.m.

Nopueto’s family members confirmed his identity.

Major Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, said the victim was riding a boat after attending an event. Upon reaching the waters near Naburot Island and Sitio Dungkaan around 4 p.m., Nopueto reportedly fell overboard.

Authorities suspect that he may have fallen due to an episode of epilepsy.

Meanwhile, in Roxas City, a senior citizen was found floating in the river in Barangay Cagay.

Wilson Nepomuceno, 65, was a fisherman and resident of Barangay Poblacion X.

According to the Roxas City police, they received a call around 2 p.m. reporting the grim discovery made by boatman Jonel Bundad.

The family believed there was no foul play involved in the death of the senior citizen. (With details from Aksyon Radyo and RMN Iloilo)/PN
