KALIBO, Aklan – A resident of the municipality of New Washington was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation right outside their house.
Police identified the suspect as Augusto Masinda, a 21-year-old student.
Four sachets of suspected shabu were seized from the resident of Sitio Suebod, Barangay Mabilo, New Washington.
Police said Masinda sold a sachet of the substance to a poseur buyer for P1,000 at around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 24.
Sensing the presence of police officers, Masinda ran toward a house after handing over the substance. Operatives pursued and eventually collared the suspect.
Three more sachets of suspected shabu were seized from him during a body search.
Masinda was detained in the New Washington police station lockup cell.
He faces charges for violation of sections 5 (selling) and 11 (possession) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
According to the police, the suspect encouraged a 14-year-old neighbor to sniff drugs with him prior to the operation.
“Nag-surveillance tayo dahil sa itong tip sa atin. Kapag gabi, may pumupunta sa bahay nila at nagde-deliver ng droga,” said Senior Police Officer 1 Peter Umetin of the New Washington police station.
