Suspected drug figure killed in Roxas City

ROXAS City – A 40-year-old man previously involved in a 2018 drug buy-bust operation was fatally shot at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Calipayan Street, Barangay Punta Tabuc here.

Jeff Ardeña, a resident of Barangay Cagay, was temporarily living in Bayot Drive, Barangay IX.

The city police station was alerted to the shooting at around 12:10 a.m. by an early morning call from a concerned citizen.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered that Ardeña, while riding his Suzuki Skydrive motorcycle, was shot multiple times by an unidentified assailant.

The Roxas City Emergency Response Team promptly attended to Ardeña, transporting him to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

At the crime scene, authorities found eight fired cartridges and two slugs from a .45 caliber firearm.

Recalling his background, the city police said Ardeña was arrested by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Capiz Police Provincial Office in 2018 for illegal drug activities on Premier de Mayo Street, Barangay 9.

The police are currently investigating the shooting to identify and apprehend those responsible./PN
