Suspected gun manufacturer arrested

ILOILO City – A 59-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Barangay Adgao, Tubungan, Iloilo.

The suspect, identified as “Joe”, was apprehended after Tubungan Municipal Police personnel executed a search warrant at his residence at around 5 a.m.

Cops seized a .38 caliber revolver, six rounds of ammunition, and various metal pipes used for gun manufacturing.

According to Lieutenant Neil Eric Goniabo, deputy police chief of Tubungan Police Station, the operation followed a tip-off regarding the suspect’s involvement in firearm manufacturing.

“Upon verification of the information, we immediately launched the operation, which led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and materials used for making guns,” said Goniabo.

The raid is part of the ongoing campaign against loose firearms in the region.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the Tubungan Municipal Police for the successful operation.

“This accomplishment demonstrates our dedication to combatting illegal firearms. We also thank the community for their vigilance and cooperation, which was crucial in the suspect’s arrest,” Wanky said.

The suspect is currently in police custody and faces charges under Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
