AKLAN – A man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a sari-sari store twice and carting away various goods in Sitio Baybay, Barangay Andagao, Kalibo town in this province.
The 35-year-old alias “Jimboy”, a resident of the said barangay, allegedly entered the store first early morning on October 1, taking a ream of cigarettes and several bottles of liquor.
According to the store owner, they noticed the following day, October 2, that many items were also missing, including canned goods, soap, coffee, sugar, and even razors. This prompted the owner to report to the police.
Several residents, meanwhile, told the store owner that they saw the suspect distributing groceries in the area. Acting on this information, the owner confronted the suspect.
Kalibo police said Jimboy initially denied the allegations but later admitted to the crime. He explained that he stole the items because he felt pity for the impoverished and decided to distribute the goods he had taken.
The suspect was now detained at the Kalibo Municipal Police Station for proper disposition./PN
