BACOLOD City – Suspended Negros Occidental provincial agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan has resigned. He officially tendered his resignation in a letter to Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. dated March 29, 2017.
Tabianan thanked Marañon for the support and assistance the governor gave him, his family and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).
According to Tabianan, he stepped down to give more time to his family. He asked for “prayers, consideration and understanding.”
In March, Marañon placed Tabianan under a 60-day preventive suspension over allegations of grave misconduct and malversation of public funds.
Tabianan was suspected of allowing Ariel Tuvilla, a subordinate at the OPA (he was also suspended), to take half the salary of a certain Kenneth Abaring between July and November
2016, Prosecuting Attorney Ernie Magaspag said.
Abaring was allegedly coerced not to report to the Accounting Office.
Tabianan was also accused of making Rodney Batarilan organize the United Toward Organic Development, or UTOD, party-list in 2015, which had nothing to do with his functions at the OPA.
His salary was also said to have been docked by Tuvilla.
