ILOILO – A mentally-ill woman was ran over by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a nurse in Barangay Pagdugue, Dumangas town around 7:10 a.m. yesterday.
The Dumangas police said the victim was a resident of Lapuz district in Iloilo City.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Montero Sport was Janella Carbajosa, 25, of Grand Plains Subdivision, Jaro district.
According to Police Staff Sergeant Effren Gonzaga Jr., investigator of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim was crossing the street when hit.
She was taken by the Dumangas Rescue Team to the town’s Don Jose S. Monfort Extension Medical Center. She is now in stable condition.
Gonzaga, meanwhile, urged the barangay officials and police officers to give attention to individuals with mental issues and illnesses, especially when they are walking on the streets to avoid accidents./PN
