THE Tacda family from Brgy. Panobolon, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras won 1st runner-up in this yearâs National Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.
The awarding ceremony was held in Quezon City last Oct 1.
âWe are very glad to receive the award. Thank you for the great opportunity that was given to usâ, Rosell Tacda said.
The search was launched last 2012, which aimed to recognize the role of the Filipino family in building a stronger foundation for our nation. It also aimed to document the impact of the Family Development Sessions, as one of the unique program conditionalities.
Judges came here in Iloilo last Sept. 18-20 to validate the Tacda family who was a Reginal winner of âSearch for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya.â
Tacda family received P25,000 plus a plaque.
âWe acknowledge the contribution of our families in development, but we also recognize the challenges that they are confronted with. The Department has always been committed in empowering our familiesâ, said DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo.
Taguiwalo also added that in 2017 there are 1.5 families who will now transition and move forward. They will also be provided with other set interventions.
The Pantawid Pamilya is a social protection program that invests in the health and education of poor households. Currently, there are 4.3 million households who are part of the program.
âWe take pride of the families awarded today. These model families have shown that through hard work, determination aided with government subsidy, they will be able to improve their families and their communities as wellâ, Taguiwalo concluded.
This yearâs champion was the Garay family from Bohol followed by Tacda family and Masamoc family of Masbate. Also, the Castillo family from Batangas and Bulso family from Aurora took 3rd and 4th places, respectively.
The annual Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya recognizes outstanding family beneficiaries who maintain strong family ties, demonstrate positive Filipino values, and have a positive impact in the community where they reside.
Through this search, Pantawid Pamilya families also showcase the improvement in their lives as the fruits of their own hard work and inspire the whole country despite the challenges they experience due to poverty. (with report from DSWD website)/PN
