IN A VIBRANT celebration of Iloilo’s rich artistic heritage and cultural creativity, Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, in partnership with the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI), proudly unveiled Taliambong, an art exhibit showcasing the masterpieces of some of Iloilo’s most talented local artists. The event was held at the hotel’s elegant lobby, where the merging of art, culture, and hospitality came to life.

The event began with an electrifying performance by the renowned Dinagyang dancers, setting the festive tone and reminding guests of Iloilo’s rich cultural traditions. Guests were warmly welcomed by Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo’s Hotel Manager, Ms. Joy Alonte, who shared the vision behind the hotel’s commitment to supporting local talent and providing a platform for Iloilo’s creative community.

“This partnership with IFFI is not just about showcasing art; it’s about celebrating the heart and soul of Iloilo — its people and their extraordinary creativity,” said Ms. Alonte. “Through Taliambong, we hope to inspire, connect, and foster appreciation for the arts, bringing our community closer together.”

The highlight of the event was heartfelt and inspirational messages from Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon; Mr. Allan Ryan Tan, IFFI President; and Jay Treñas, Executive Assistant of Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas, who emphasized the foundation’s dedication to promoting and preserving Iloilo’s rich culture and traditions through events like Taliambong.

As part of the program, one of the featured artists, Dr. Mae Tamayo-Panes, took the stage to share their creative journey and the inspiration behind their works. The stories resonated deeply with the audience, offering a unique glimpse into the passion and dedication of Iloilo’s art community.

The ceremonial ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the exhibit, led by Ms. Alonte, Vice Mayor Ganzon, Tan, Treñas, Jelma Crystel Implica, and Al Provido. Guests were then invited to explore the breathtaking paintings on display while enjoying expertly crafted bar bites and cocktails prepared by the hotel’s culinary team.

The exhibit featured a diverse array of works, from vibrant landscapes that capture the beauty of Iloilo to modern, thought-provoking pieces that reflect contemporary Filipino identity. Each artwork told a story, serving as a window into the culture, history, and creativity of the region.

Taliambong underscores the importance of collaboration between private institutions like Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo and cultural organizations like IFFI. This partnership not only fosters the growth of Iloilo’s art scene but also enhances the city’s reputation as a hub of culture and creativity.

The Taliambong exhibit will be open to the public until January 26, 2025, offering visitors and hotel guests alike the chance to immerse themselves in Iloilo’s rich artistic landscape./PN
