Talking more about MORE

ADMITTEDLY, we have been talking a lot about MORE Electric and Power Corporation a.k.a. MORE Power, simply because there’s a lot of good to talk about “I Am Iloilo City’s” sole power distribution utility.

Really, there’s so much to talk about that we just don’t know where to begin. But we have to start somewhere, and the dangling conversation begins…

MORE Power is probably the only power distribution utility that takes to heart this thing called Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR and we start with the little things mostly unnoticed but has a great impact on the environment and livelihood of the natives of “I Am Iloilo City”.

Over the weekend, MORE Power and the City Agriculture Office released some 1,500 fish fingerlings in the historic Iloilo River. This is in part of their sustainable environmental advocacies to strengthen community engagement and their long-term commitment to the Ilonggos. The high-value fingerlings are locally known as Bulgan or Sea Bass.

This earned praises from a group of Ilonggos who are into long-line fishing as their hobby. Most often, some enjoy this past-time as they could easily provide food to their families when they go home.

According to the City Agriculture Office, they need a sustainable program for the river and they cannot achieve that without the commitment of the private sector.

Together with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), MORE Power has been setting up Satellite Voting Registration Centers in the big malls in Iloilo City as part of their partnership with the poll body.

And if there are scheduled power interruptions for maintenance, repair or improvement works – which is part of MORE Power’s five-year development plan to bring up the city’s power distribution up to par with the 21st century – your friendly “Nong Moroy” sets up mobile charging stations and distributes free water to the residents of the affected areas.

MORE Power does not settle but instead strives for continuous improvement. Since the start, it has aimed to integrate innovative solutions to enhance the overall customer experience of their services beyond power distribution. They’ve built on this foundation to create experiences that make a real difference in the lives of our customers.

The company is dedicated to creating more energy solutions that not only increase reliability but also enhance effectiveness, for consumers to receive the best possible service. Speaking of which:

The 26/33 MVA Substation for Iloilo City Proper, a major capacity project, is already off and running.

Panay’s First Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System featuring automated data recording, instantaneous default detection, a 24/7 helpline, predictive maintenance activities and optimized energy sourcing is already in place and working.

There’s the ongoing rehabilitation of the Molo Substation, replacement of control systems and SCADA migration.

And, the safety and beautification of Iloilo City with the Underground Distribution System.

This mission to integrate innovative solutions to enhance the overall customer experience of their services beyond power distribution with actual tangible and sustainable project – not just lip-service – has inspired “I Am Iloilo City” Mayor Jerry Treñas to make special mention of MORE Power in his 2024 State of the City Address.

“While we are enjoying continuous good service and one of the lowest power rates in the country, we are also glad to know that MORE Electric and Power Corporation is also exploring more sources especially reliable and affordable renewable energy,” said Mayor Treñas.

Of course, a blushing “Nong Moroy” replied”

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mayor Jerry Treñas for acknowledging MORE Power’s efforts during his 2024 State of the City Address.

“His kind words regarding the quality of service we provide and our commitment to offering one of the lowest power rates in the country inspire us to continue striving for excellence.

“We are especially heartened by his recognition of our exploration into reliable and affordable renewable energy sources. This reinforces our mission to serve Iloilo City with sustainable and efficient power, contributing to the city’s progress and environmental responsibility.

“Once again, thank you for your continued trust in MORE Power. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and contributing to the city’s growth.”

Well played, indeed./PN
