Talking pantry and hypocrisy

MIGHT as well join the fun as it still seems to be the hottest topic both on social and mainstream media and it keeps evolving.

Just recently somebody already died because of it and it has the potential of a COVID-19 superspreader.

Yes, you got it right. We’re talking about “community pantry” and other variations i.e. “birthday pantry”.

If you want to feed the hungry, by all means do so. But the moment you take a picture and post it on social media or involve mainstream media, then you’re just feeding your ego. Worst, you have an ulterior motive.

Let’s start with the “community pantry” that started all these nonsense. Looking at the Maginhawa Community Pantry telenovela, there was indeed “red-tagging” and it was organizer Patricia Non who did it. She red-tagged herself.

Patricia Non a.k.a. Ka Patring played everyone and most fell for it. At the end of the day her ulterior motives were exposed. When asked by GMA reporter Tina Panganiban-Perez if she had any links with the New People’s Army / National Democratic Front (NPA-NDF) in a press conference organized by herself, she evaded the question and instead went into an emotional tirade, playing the ubiquitous “victim card”. Really, is it that difficult to answer yes or no?

So the Maginhawa Community Pantry temporarily stopped because of “red-tagging”. But of course, the dramatic pause for effect and they’re-not-calling-attention-to-themselves seems to be straight from Chiara Zambrano’s/Maria Ressa’s playbook.

So I got curious as to who this Patricia Non is. I did a little research and so far this is what I came up with: Ana Patricia Non a.k.a.  Ka Patring, according to former NPA/NDF cadres who know her, is a member of the underground mass organization ARMAS (Artista at Manunulat ng Sambayanan) that believes in the violent overthrow of government.

She started as a student council member of the College of Fine Arts in UP Diliman, then became a member of the Concerned Artists of the Philippines; former head of Alay Sining; and national officer of Kabataang Artista Para sa Tunay na Kalayaan (Karatula). As an officer of ARMAS, she went on an immersion in Southern Tagalog with, of course, the usual suspects.

Interesting. It seems she is no innocent do-gooder as they are projecting her to be. Rather she is an experienced militant activist, the classic “makibaka” type. Then again, I am not surprised. The “red-tagging” card is the weapon of choice of these types.

You know I pity Leni Robredo. After five years of photo-ops and all that nonsense promoting herself, she was not able to achieve what Patricia Non did with her “community pantry”. Now Patricia is the de facto leader and face of the three percent. Poor Leni, she’s as usual irrelevant.

Senators Joel Villanueva, Risa Hontiveros, Win Gatchialian, Nancy Binay, Franklin Drilon and Grace Poe, instead of spending P8.9 billion on your new Senate building which will only benefit yourselves, use the money instead to fund “community pantries “ so the people will not be hungry and Patricia Non will not beg for dollars and no longer “red tag” herself.

And speaking of these hypocrites, here are excerpts from an April 21, 2021 article by Rigoberto D. Tiglao on www.manilatimes.net:

But the Senate could afford Senator Lacson’s project to allocate P5 billion in funds for a new hi-tech, luxurious four-story Senate building at Bonifacio Global City, which would eventually cost P15 billion when furniture, fixtures, and other finishing costs are included? The project broke ground in 2019 and had its first concrete pouring in February last year. No problem with funds; it is scheduled to be finished this year. We are the only country in the world to be undertaking such a huge $200 million project to build luxury offices for 24 superegos, at a time when we are in a recession because of the pandemic.

Meanwhile in another “community pantry”, this time ABS-CBN “star” Angel Locsin’s own version of a “birthday pantry”, has the usual suspects already linked and blamed President Duterte for the super-spreader-plus-one-death fiasco.

What kind of an idiot would call for the gathering of thousands of “screaming fans” in the midst of a pandemic? The mayor of Quezon City, Joy Belmonte, is another special kind of idiot to allow such mass gathering while the city is under a Moderate Enhanced Community Quarantine or MECQ.

And you’re still wondering why COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Metro Manila Plus? That Angel Locsin shindig shows you why. (brotherlouie16@gmail.com)/PN
