MANILA – Carl Tamayo reached a personal milestone as Changwon LG Sakers prevailed over Busan KCC Egis, 83-78, in the Korean Basketball League on Saturday at the Busan Sajik Gymnasium.

Tamayo surpassed the league’s 200-rebound mark, contributing four rebounds along with 12 points, one assist, and a steal, which helped the LG Sakers enhance their win-loss record to 23-14.

Assem Marei led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Jeong Seong-hyun contributed 12 markers for the LG Sakers.

“It was a hard win. This is the same team that we played just recently, so I told my players that we should already know how to defend them,” Changwon head coach Cho Sang-hyun said after the game.

“The rotation in defense was not good until the third quarter. I ordered to cut our deficit to within five points until the fourth quarter. After that, our rebounds and concentration were good,” he added.

Cady Lalanne finished with 28 points and eight rebounds, while Filipino-Canadian guard Calvin Epistola was held scoreless in over a minute of appearance as the Egis dropped to 15-22.

Meanwhile, Samjosef Belangel showcased his passing game as Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus (20-16) scored a 94-85 victory over Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (22-14) at the Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles guard finished with 10 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and three steals as the Pegasus notched their second straight win.

“When he’s in good condition, I tell him to attack. When he’s not, I tell him to focus on the passing game. He’s smart. I think his understanding is continuously improving,” Daegu head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.

Kevin Quiambao recorded 26 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and a steal but Goyang Sono Skygunners (11-25) suffered a 77-63 defeat to Seoul Samsung Thunders (12-24)./PN
