PERLAS Lady Spikers repeated as champions in the 16th Iloilo Paraw Regatta National Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament on Sunday at the Joe III Garden in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Negrense Bea Tan and Floriemel Rodrigues of the Lady Spikers bested the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos A pair of Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato, 21-14, 21-15, in the gold medal match.
On their way to the finals, Perlas defeated Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors-Iloilo’s Dhannalyn Mae Demontaño and Jackielyn Estoquia, 16-21, 21-15, 15-10, while UNO-R A edged Babylove Barbon and Genesa Eslapor of University of Santo Tomas, 21-18, 21-12.
Demontaño and Estoquia, meanwhile, claimed the third place trophy after defeating Barbon and Eslapor, 21-19, 21-17, in battle-for-third place game.
Tan was later hailed as the Most Valuable Player while Rodrigues was the Best Blocker, Estoquia was the Best Spiker, Magdato was the Best Setter, Barbon was the Best Receiver and National University’s Roma Joy Doromal was the Best Server.
For ruling the tournament, Tan and Rodrigues received P25,000, while Polidario and Magdato settled for P15,000. Demontaño and Estoquia and Barbon and Eslapor took home P10,000 and P5,000, respectively./PN
