BEACH Volleyball Republic pair Bea Tan and Maria Rosario Soriano ruled the 15th Iloilo Paraw Regatta National Womenâs Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Joe III Garden in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Tan and Soriano managed a come-from-behind 11-21, 21-18, 15-8 victory over Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in the knockout finals on Saturday.
After surrendering the tight opening set, Tan and Soriano regained its form in the second set to force a deciding match. In the third set, BVR jumped to an early advantage before holding off UNO-Râs late runs.
Iloilo City pair Dhannalyn Mae Demontaño and Jackielyn Estoquia, on the other hand, salvaged a bronze medal finish in the two-day event after defeating Gizelle Tan and Amy Ahomiro of Perlas-BanKo Lady Spikers.
Soriano was later adjudged the Most Valuable Player and the Best Blocker while teammate Bea Tan was the Best Server. Magdato was hailed Best Spiker; Gizelle, Best Receiver; and Demontaño, Best Setter.
Bea Tan and Soriano received P25,000 cash. Polidario and Magdato took home P12,000; Demontaño and Estoquia, P7,000; and Gizelle and Ahomiro, P5,000.
