‘Tanod’ back in jail for drug offense

ILOILO City – Months after he was released from detention, a barangay tanod in Janiuay, Iloilo was again jailed.

Rolly Poblacion, 53, of Barangay Don T. Lutero East faces illegal drug selling and possession charges, police said.

Officers arrested him in a buy-bust operation in their village.

Poblacion sold to undercover officers a plastic pack of shabu worth P500. Two more sachets of shabu were recovered from him, police said.

In June 2011 Poblacion was also arrested for a drug charge and detained at the Iloilo District Jail in Barangay Nanga, Pototan town, said Senior Inspector John Paul Guay, Janiuay police chief.

His case got dismissed and Poblacion was released just this May 26.

The Janiuay police consider Poblacion a “high-value target level 3” in their campaign against drugs.

“We received information that the suspect got back in the drug trade after his release,” claimed Guay.

Police staged the buy-bust at 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 and hauled Poblacion to the lockup cell of their station thereafter.

Poblacion faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
