BACOLOD City – A 22-year-old man was declared dead on arrival at the Rural Health Unit after he was shot by a barangay tanod in Sitio Marcel, Barangay Cansalungon, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Jasin Carpio, a resident of the village, succumbed to a gunshot wound on his chest, according to the Isabela Municipal Police Station (MPS).

The suspect identified as Ronald Delgado, 46, remained at large as of this writing.

Isabela police said the drunk Carpio, armed with a bolo, was shouting and wanted to enter his uncle’s house on Thursday evening, July 25.

His uncle sought help from the barangay tanods and Delgado responded.

The tanod along with barangay officials negotiated with Carpio, but instead of listening he tried to hack the former.

Police said the suspect retaliated by shooting Carpio./PN
