ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), together with the 3rd Civil Military Operations (CMO) Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, turned over two jetmatic water pumps to the workers of Tanza Public Cemetery in Barangay Tanza Timawa II, City Proper yesterday, June 14.
ICPO director Colonel Joeresty Coronica led the turn-over along with 3rd CMO Battalion Officer Lieutenant Colonel Luisita Clavecillas, Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC) commander Lieutenant Colonel Romeo Vargas, Family Coordinator Winnie Doblizo and barangay officials.
Clavecillas said people in the area have been articulating their concerns to the police and the military.
The ICPO also gave rice and food packs to 33 cemetery workers.
“Ang PNP nag-donate duha ka jetmatic, ang aton nga Philippine Army nag-donate sang tubo para nga ang inyo pag sinarayo kung ga ubra kamo diri sa sementeryo mangin matawhay,” said Coronica.
On his part, Vargas said their assessment showed that the water source is the main problem for the workers and surrounding households.
“Ang purpose sini why we donated because according sa mga members sang Tanza Cemetery Workers Association, nagalibot pa sila pangita sang tubig. Pag-assess sa sulod sang cemetery, nabaw man ang lebel sang tubig, so amo ina para mapasulhay ang ila pag ginawi,” said Vargas./PN
