SAN JOSE, Antique – The Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law has no significant impact on prices of basic commodities in Antique as of now, an official of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.

Glen D. Fernando, DTI-Antique’s development specialist, said the prices of commodities remained stable and not beyond the suggested retail price the agency issued on Jan. 1.

Fernando said this after they monitored the prices in major stores in the province.

This is because the stores are still selling their old stocks, he added.

“We will again monitor the stores when their old stocks are already sold out,” Fernando said.

The next price inspection is scheduled tomorrow.

Fernando stressed that there was no significant change in the prices even in their price inspection in October last year.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed TRAIN into law last month. It is one of the five tax packages under the administration’s comprehensive tax reform plan. (PNA/PN)
