ILOILO City – Instead of taking his passengers to their destination, a taxi driver drove them elsewhere. Now, he faces a charge for “unjust vexation.”

The taxi driver was Canon Armada, a 60-year-old resident of Barangay Poblacion, Alimodian, Iloilo. He worked for Arzea taxi company.

According to complainant Andrew Florida of Barangay Barasan, Pototan, Iloilo, he and two daughters boarded Armada’s taxi in Barangay Baluarte, Molo district around 8 p.m. on Jan. 2.

They asked to be taken to the transport terminal in Barangay Tagbak, Jaro district via the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (formerly Diversion Road) but Armada instead took the La Paz district route, Florida told the police.

When he complained, according to Florida, Armada arrogantly told them to better get off his taxi and find another one to take them to Barangay Tagbak.

A disappointed Florida and his daughters demanded that Armada better take them to Police Station 1. The driver obliged.

It was there that the passengers asked the police to apprehend the taxi driver./PN
