ILOILO – Blessings continue to pour in for Anthony Aguirre, the driver of A&A Marie Taxi who returned P2.4 million in cash left behind by a passenger.

Aguirre, a resident of Barangay Amparo, Pavia, Iloilo, recently received an additional P30,000 cash reward from 2nd District’s Cong. Michael Gorriceta and Dr. Kathy Fermin Gorriceta.

On January 21, Dr. Gorriceta personally handed the cash reward to Aguirre, recognizing his honesty.

“We invited Mr. Anthony Aguirre, the Good Samaritan taxi driver from Barangay Amparo, Pavia, Iloilo, along with the taxi unit owner, Ms. Aldrina Janobas, to our office. He was given a cash reward of P30,000, which was personally handed over by my wife, Dr. Kathy Gorriceta. This act of kindness exemplifies that goodness prevails in the world, and when you do what is right with a kind heart, blessings come back to you. May more people be inspired by Mr. Aguirre’s actions and may it encourage others to embrace honesty and kindness in the second district,” said Congressman Gorriceta.

Prior to this, Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas also presented Aguirre with a P20,000 cash reward and named him an Honorary Citizen of Iloilo City.

“Tony’s story reminds us that honesty builds trust, pride, and hope in our community. Thank you, Tony, for bringing honor to Iloilo. Let us all strive to live by these values every day,” Mayor Treñas said in a statement.

Aguirre’s good deed went viral last weekend when he immediately returned a knapsack containing P2.4 million in cash left behind by a passenger traveling from People’s Hotel in the City Proper to Lapuz Wharf en route to Bacolod City./PN
