ILOILO City – A taxi passenger who refused to pay was detained at the Arevalo district police station.
Victor Losbañes was a 59-year-old resident of Barangay Santa Felomina, Arevalo. Taxi driver Joel Jancorda, 58, of Barangay Banban, Buenavista, Guimaras took him to the police station late Thursday night.
Jancorda complained to the police that Losbañes refused his metered fare that reached P215.
Losbañes boarded Jancorda’s taxi at La Paz district plaza around 11:50 p.m. and asked to be taken to MM’s Beach Resort in Arevalo.
When they reached the resort, however, the apparently inebriated passenger declined to pay, according to Jancorda.
At the police station, Losbañes became belligerent, telling policemen, “Sin-o ka? Wala ko labot kun chief of police ka. Mabato ka sa akon? Tirohay gusto mo? Tawgan ko si Colonel Gepana.” (Jimboy S. Dionela, intern, West Visayas State University – College of Communication/PN)
