Tay Tung bets snag 2 Batang Pinoy golds

ATHLETES from Bacolod Tay Tung High School delivered two gold medals in the second day of the 2018 Batang Pinoy National Finals on Tuesday in Baguio City.

Antonette Jay Aguillon, Ara Rahbea Delotavo, Stephany Rey Malate, and Aubrey Mercado ruled the girls 4x100m relay, defeating squads from Dasmariñas and Cotabato, which settled for silver and bronze medals, respectively.

For Aguillon and Delotavo, it was their second gold medal in the tournament after topping the 100m dash and 100m hurdles, respectively, on Monday at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.

Tay Tung’s Margueritte Therese Cala-or also clinched a gold medal when she topped the 8-9 years old advance kata in karatedo. She will aim for her second gold in the kumite event Wednesday.

Bacolodnons Leigh Andee Rodriguez and Mariane Cabalhin had a gold-bronze finish in cadet female bantamweight in taekwondo while Aklanon Pauline Peralta ruled the cadet female heavyweight.

Aklanon Christine Berano clinched a silver in cadet female lightweight, while Bacolodnons Ma. Charlize Subardiaga and Ariane Espida and Antiquena Jillian Gardose bagged bronze medals.

The groups of Subardiaga, Lexine Lapuos and Isaballa Nicole Ycogo, and Gardose, Maika Montinola and Rozennie Tameta also took home bronze medals in the poomsae team event.

Moreover Region 6 swimmers won medals, too – Aklanon Kyla Soguilon got a silver and a bronze in 13 to 15 girls individual medley and backstroke, respectively, while Lucio Cuyong of Aklan also had a silver in 13 to 15 boys breaststroke.

Bacolodnon Busty Dwyne Jalandra captured a bronze in the 12 and under individual medley while Antiqueño Guilever Clemente also had a bronze in 13 to 15 individual medley.

In volleyball, Tay Tung cruised to its third win in the girls division after its opponent Angeles failed to show up, while Antique also rose to 3-0 in the boys event with wins over Benguet province and Panaon./PN
