Marikina City – Western Visayas elementary boys basketball team completed its dominance in the 2023 Palarong Pambansa via a 75-58 rout of Northern Mindanao in the finals on Saturday at the MARIST School Gymnasium here.

James Carlo Ramos was named as the Most Valuable Player following his efficient performance for the Bacolod Tay Tung High School-represented WV team while Nicus Robert Calma was listed as among the Mythical Five.

The Western Visayas elementary cagers, being handled by Ryan Nabor and Atoy Callora, went to work in the opening half with precise offense from Ramos and Calma for a 42-18 halftime lead.

Northern Mindanao, however, came out in the second half as a more aggressive team as they were able to put some points to cut the deficit to 34-53 but the WV regained their offense in the final quarter to seal the win.

Also part of the Thunderbolts elementary squad are Francis Luis Gabriel Alcoran, Kevin Ashton Jared Bunol, Zachary James Caunsing Acster Ken Panisales and Ronald Miguel Delada.

Completing the Bacolod City-based elementary cagers are Magz Joseph Magbanua, Josef Babor, Tristan Alexander Randall, Gian Kyle Tan and Chase Liam Verba.

On their way to the championship round, the WV squad scored lopsided wins against Davao Region (60-19) and Central Luzon (55-46) before they pulled off a 72-42 win over Central Visayas in the semifinals round.

Meanwhile, the Western Visayas secondary girls basketball team, represented by a team from Negros Occidental, settled for a bronze medal finish after bowing in the semifinals game.

Also, the elementary boys and secondary boys baseball team, both represented by teams from Iloilo City, fell short of their gold medal bids as they bowed in their respective gold medal matches.

The WV elementary boys baseball team are composed of Carl Andrei Aguayon, Lexus Blaire Ederadan, Zhianne Klein Elambayo, Reniel Elloran, Marjohn Prince Encio, Chazz Wayne Eraldo, Grim Raven Erazo, Kent Jade Escanlar, A-Jay Esgrina, Tallin Gener Ezpeleta, Manuel Enrico Quidato, and Franz Ibn Tenefrancia.

The Region 6’s secondary boys baseball team has Ryan Baido, Kim Hock De Asis, Alexie Joshua Deloso, Kristian Dasheil Democrito, Jeremy Lagamon, Bryan Lagumbay, Kyle Jaspher Laroscain, Francis Jan Lizondato, Carl Pedilla, April Rey Relente, Von Bryle Yudelmo, and Seigfred Zerrudo./PN
