Tay Tung, Living Stones net NegOcc meet volley crowns

NOPSSCEA representatives Bacolod Tay Tung High School and Living Stones International School captured the crowns in Negros Occidental Palarong Panlalawigan 2018 volleyball on Thursday in Bacolod City.

Bacolod Tay Tung continued its reign in the secondary girls volleyball after a 25-15, 23-25, 25-10, 25-18 victory over the Talisay City selection in the finals.

Led by Joan Monares, Erika Deloria and Shane Carmona, Bacolod Tay Tung surged to an early lead in the opening set before thwarting the rally attempt from the opponents.

After losing a close second set, Bacolod Tay Tung had a huge response in the third period by forcing Talisay City to numerous errors and move closer to the title.

Bacolod Tay Tung went for the kill in the fourth set with Alyssa Bertolano and Kiesha Bedonia anchoring the offense for a five point edge. It was all Bacolod Tay Tung since then as the lead went up to double digits.

Meanwhile, Living Stones stretched its winning run in the secondary boys after taking down Area 3 in a rain hit gold medal match.

Living Stones managed to keep its composure amid distractions – including a change of venue midway in the second set–to retain the championship.

Bacolod Tay Tung and Living Stones will now advance in the Western Visayas Regional Athletiic Association Meet slated next year in Capiz./PN
