BACOLOD Tay Tung High School scored two more wins to fortify its hold on the top spot in the Iloilo 14 and Under Girls Volleyball League in Iloilo City.
After winning two of its three matches on opening day on Sept. 9, Tay Tung defeated I. Arroyo Elementary School 25-23, 25-10 and Iloilo City National High School 25-13, 25-17 on Sunday.
Tay Tung started its campaign on a wrong note after a 21-25, 26-28 loss to Santo Niño Elementary School before winning over La Paz National High School 25-13, 17-25, 25-22 and Pavia 25-15, 25-19.
Santo Niño, meanwhile, captured its second win in the tournament by beating Iloilo City National High 25-19, 25-22, while Hua Siong College of Iloilo High School defeated Oton National High School 25-16, 25-18.
Dumangas (2-0) led Bracket A standings, followed by Central Philippine University (1-0), Hua Siong (1-1), Ateneo de Iloilo (0-1), and San Miguel (0-1).
Bannering Bracket B, on the other hand, are Tay Tung (4-1), Santo Niño (2-0), La Paz National High School (0-1), Pavia (0-1), I. Arroyo (0-1), and Iloilo City National High School (0-2).
Presented by the Philippine Sports Commission, the monthlong volleyball league will resume action on Sept. 17./PN
