MANILA – Bacolod Tay Tung High School swimmer Coraline Montalbo captured two gold medals in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) National Inter-School Games held recently here.
Montalbo emerged on top in the girls’ 14-to-16 year old 200-meter butterfly event with a record-setting time of two minutes and 45 seconds.
Finishing with silver and bronze medals, respectively, are Zion Valencia of Ateneo de Cebu Senior High School Swimming Team, and Rana Moaje of the Saint Peter the Apostle.
Montalbo also captured a gold medal in the girls’ 14-to-16 year old 100-meter butterfly event earlier in the competition.
The two-gold medal performance of Montalbo came after her inclusion to the national training pool under the supervision of the Philippine Finswimming Federation Inc. (PFF).
“I would like to thank the Lord, My coaches, my family and friends that I was able to qualify for the Fin Swimming Team,” Montalbo said.
“I am very grateful for this opportunity and I will work even harder so that I won’t disappoint the federation and the people who support me,” she added.
Montalbo, a many-time gold medal winner while representing Tay Tung in various competitions, is now regularly training in Metro Manila as part of the pool./PN
