ILOILO – Police Colonel Marlon Tayaba’s two-year tour of duty in this province as director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is ending this June 19.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said he was so satisfied with Tayaba’s performance that he wanted the police official’s term extended.
Proof of Tayaba’s good performance was his bagging the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officers (PCO) for Operations award during the 117th Police Service anniversary celebration in August 2018 in Camp Crame, Quezon City, said Defensor.
But if the term extension is not feasible, said Defensor, he would leave to his successor the task of recommending Tayaba’s replacement.
The next governor is Defensor’s son, Cong. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr.
Tayaba was appointed IPPO director on June 19, 2017.
He said he was flattered that Defensor wanted his term extended and that he was happy serving the Ilonggos.
“But we have a career path to follow. I believe my two years in the province is more than enough service to the Ilonggo people,” said Tayaba.
The director said he wanted to take other opportunities being offered to police officers.
One of Tayaba’s biggest achievements was neutralizing drug lord Richard Prevendido on Sept. 1, 2017.
He also cited the peaceful and orderly conduct of the May 13, 2019 midterm elections./PN
