ILOILO City – Several telecommunication companies have completed the removal of their lines and poles along Calle Real in line with the city government’s ongoing underground cabling project.

Mayor Jerry Treñas announced that Converge, Globe, Smart, and PLDT have complied with the city’s ordinance and the extended deadline for the removal.

Treñas directed City Administrator Melchor Tan and the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) to monitor the status of the lines and poles.

A meeting was held earlier yesterday with representatives from all involved utilities to ensure seamless coordination and consultation for the project.

For utilities that have yet to act, the CEO will commence dismantling any remaining lines and poles this afternoon.

Treñas emphasized the urgency of meeting deadlines to avoid delays in the project.

Additionally, redundant wooden and concrete poles will be removed to declutter the area and preserve the heritage site’s integrity along Calle Real./PN
