Teleseryes and bad behavior

WE RECENTLY got the chance to join an all-lady chit- chat.

The group included an insurance lady, a lady banker, a lady lawyer, a lady call center agent, and a lady storeowner.

While they were all addicted to watching nightly telenovelas, there were also quick to point out that they did not favor Filipino teleseres; imported television dramas were better.

“Yes, I am fond of teleseryes. I watch them when time permits. I know, too, that television networks close their eyes on the immoral subjects being tackled by these Filipino teleseryes because this is where money is,” said the lady storeowner.

The insurance lady agreed.  “That is why Filipino culture and practices are getting worse. Immoral lessons are embedded in the scripts of these television shows,” she said.

Meanwhile, the lady banker observed that, “From afternoon till late at night, all we can see and hear are the shouting among dramatistas, slapping of faces and pulling of hairs.”

Sadly, she said, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board does not give a hoot.

“Perhaps for them only sexual acts and nudity need censorship,” the call center lady butted in.

Will someone please whisper to Tatay Digong’s ears these concerns?

The President should remind these networks to go slow in polluting the minds especially of the younger set.

According to the lady lawyer, “Those stories in the teleseryes contribute to the ill-behavior of Filipinos. It conditions the minds that bad behavior and immoral acts are acceptable.”

The lay lawyer believed “televiewers have come to love foreign telenovelas because there were no slapping of faces or sabunutan ng buhok in their scripts.

“They are more decent and moral,” agreed the insurance lad.
