MANILA – TerraFirma Dyip own the top-overall selection in the upcoming Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft following their last place finish at the end of eliminations of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup.
Dyip, in fact, were tied with the NorthPort Batang Pier at the 11th to 12th place with a 1-10 W-L record, but the former occupied the No. 1 selection after they lost to the latter.
Dyip, former KIA Picanto, owned the top pick in 2017 but traded it to the San Miguel Beermen. The pick ended up being Christian Standhardinger, who is now with the Batang Pier.
Dyip once again secured the top-overall selection in 2018 with Jaymar Perez. In 2019, they got George Isaac Go from the special draft and Roosevelt Adams in the regular draft.
NLEX Road Warriors, on the other hand, occupied the third and fourth pick with the former acquired from Blackwater Elite in an offseason trade that saw John Paul Erram on way to TNT Tropang Giga.
The rest of the eight picks will be determined after the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs round. The PBA Rookie Draft schedule has yet to be released but it could likely be held online.
So far, two players have already expressed their desire to join the rookie selection in Filipino-American guard Jeremiah Gray and former De La Salle University Green Archers big man Jamie Malonzo./PN
