Text on kidnap group ‘fake news’ – PRO-6

ILOILO City – There are no organized kidnapping group in Western Visayas, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

It issued the statement in the wake of circulating text messages claiming that kidnappers were operating in Iloilo City and had abducted three female teenagers in Jaro district the  headed toward northern Iloilo province.

The text messages were reportedly from a non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Jaro police station.

“Based sa amon intelligence report, wala kinap group diri sa Western Visayas. Fake news ina. Wala sang kamatooran,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.

He then warned those circulating the text messages.

“Sa mga nagapadala fake news, halong kamo. Basi madakpan kamo, presohan gid inyo madangatan,” Solis said.

A text message read:

“Pls.be alert may grupo hlin sa maynila ari na sla sbung sa Brgy san isidro Jaro,ky ndakpan ang isa nla ka upod,ga png kdnap sla bta kg mga teenager bayi man or laki.kaina sa Brgy.san isidro Jaro tatlo gd ka dlaga ila nkuha kag pakadto sila sbung sa sara kag san dionisio..

Solis said they conducted an investigation. Gando, an NUP assigned at the Jaro police station, never sent such messages or messages.

“Maybe gin gamit lang iya ngalan sang mga tonto nga tawo nga gusto lang magguba sang aton peace and order situation,” Solis said./PN
