WITH the deadly rampage caused by the COVID virus…the world has stood still and everything has turned to dark despair.
The number of infected persons continue to rise each day and so, too, the unfortunate deaths. Facemasks, social distancing, lockdowns, quarantines and restricted travel became the necessary order of the day.

But despite it all…let it not destroy our day nor dampen our spirits. We shall continue to fight against it…and ultimately, prevail.

I have discovered a cure against COVID. The virus drops off at the sound of laughter…it can’t stand laughter. But do not laugh alone.

Strangely, some good has come out of it.
* For the first time in our history, government funds have been given and received by the poor and under privileged.
* There being no traffic…pollution has disappeared. What a miracle to breathe absolutely clean air.
* In the same vein, the Ozone Layer which protects our atmosphere has slowed in its degradation.
* Sanitary health practices are suddenly observed. Everyone is brushing their false teeth; washing their hands with soap and using alcohol; taking a bath and staying at home.
* Big savings…from drinking in honkytonks and karaoke bars; dallying with loose women; no more motel short-time check-in; or STL (Short Time Lover).
* No more mah-jong or tong-its and cockfights.
* As a sign of love and observance of protocol…you don’t have to hug and kiss your mother-in-law.
* Prolonged conversation is strictly prohibited because the virus is spread quickly by gossip droplets…which is good for our ears and gives the mouth a rest.
* Because of the lockdown, you are reprieved and saved from relatives and well-meaning friends…who want to borrow money.
* Flora and fauna and the ecology system has flourished; fish are multiplying; endangered species are making a comeback; the grass has grown greener still and the trees spread its majestic tops….what a great welcome change in our wild life and environment a few months without human intervention can do.
* Our rivers and oceans are cleaner – with maritime travel stopped…pollution; trash and the indestructible plastic…no longer float and dirty the deep and boundless seas.
* The good, noble and Christian character of man has, in this dire moment of crisis, risen to the challenge…generous and unfettered contributions of cash and goods…and even services, in direct physical contact with infected patients, to the extent of sacrificing their lives.

The world has changed and the virus has upset our pace of life. Perhaps COVID just wants to make a statement and send the message…that the world can unite and resolve its differences peacefully – and treat everyone and the environment with a new kindness.
But gosh…when will they discover a cure and vaccine? I miss my vices./PN
