Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s latest film “The Hows of Us” continues to break box-office records as it reached the P600 million mark on Monday, Sept. 17.
This is the first time that a Philippine movie achieved such feat, beating the P571 million local ticket sales of Vice Ganda’s “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad” in 2017.
The film earned P601,152,867.12 in ticket sales as of 5 p.m. on Monday. It is officially the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time. The said earnings of “The Hows of Us” does not include the ticket sales yet from international screenings.
“The Hows of Us” is KathNiel’s 2018 movie project after starring in the highly successful movie “Barcelona: A Love Untold” in 2016. The movie is directed by Cathy Garcia Molina.
The whole team of “The Hows of Us” held its thanksgiving party on Sept. 12, wherein its lead star Kathryn became emotional.
“Dumating ako sa point na sumuko na din ako sa magkakasunod na nangyari and they asked me if you want this. Hindi naman ako nabigo, kasi grabe po ‘yung naging tulong nila sa akin, especially Direk Cathy na hindi siya napagod at hindi siya napagod na maniwala sa ‘kin. I felt like she saved me and she did talaga, si Direk Cathy, sa lahat ng praises na nare-receive ko, it’s because of her,” she said in the thanksgiving party.
“The Hows of Us” is one of the final movies of Direk Cathy as she plans to retire soon to spend more time with her family. In the grand press conference of the movie, the director highlighted that the film is KathNiel’s transition to more mature roles.
“So siyempre mas gusto sana natin lagi bago ng bago. So ano pa bang hindi nila napupuntahan? Something more real. Real na very slice of life type of story. Kaya kami napunta sa ganitong kuwento,” she said.
The director also stressed that she wants to prove the critics of her stars wrong through “The Hows of Us.” She said, “Marami kasing nag-da-doubt sa capacity ng artista ko especially Kathryn so ilalabas ko ang galing ni Kathryn dito and I think she did it with flying colors.” (Push)
