THE dream of tasting the sweet mangoes of Guimaras can now be turned into a reality with only P100 in your pocket.
You get the feel the excitement and fulfillment of eating these sweet mangoes by joining the much-celebrated “Manggahan Festival 2014” held in Guimaras Provincial Ground, San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
This year’s “Manggahan Festival” theme is: “Maximizing Involvement: Spreading Socio-cultural and Economic Gains.” A “Mango eat-all-you-can” activity is once again organized and made possible through the efforts of the Department of Agriculture, PENRO, and Guimaras Mango Growers.
Supported and funded by the Provincial Government Unit, the “Mango eat-all-you-can” has evolved and is turned into a yearly anticipated event for everyone.
This year’s eat-all-you-can activity has been upgraded and developed into a province-wide event. For the very first time, this activity now covers all towns of Guimaras. Thus, each town have prepared and contributed for the launching of the said event.
The “Mango eat-all-you-can 2014” activity opened on April 20 and is scheduled to conclude on May 22, 2014 – the last day of the “Manggahan Festival.”
The eat-all-you-can activity is not available every day, but is scheduled on specific dates and time.
With an affordable registration fee, everyone can now have the chance to feel and savor the mango eat-all-you-can experience on these following dates: May 3, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sibunag Municipal Ground, May 7, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at San Lorenzo Municipal Ground, May 10, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Buenavista Municipal Ground, May 17, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Philippine National Police Provincial Command, and on May 21 and 22, 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Provincial Capitol Ground.
Everyone is welcome to participate as long as the mechanics of the said activity is followed.
The eat-all-you-can activity shall only have one category which is the eating of ripe mangoes.
Before having the chance to taste the sweet mangoes of Guimaras Island, participants are first required to register in the designated area a registration fee of 100 pesos per head.
Only 30 minutes is allotted per participant.
Eating by bare hands is highly encouraged, but if the participant opts to use spoon or any utensils as an aid in eating, he/she should provide one for himself/herself.
An initial serving of one kilogram ripe mango shall be given to each participant at the refilling area upon the presentation of the issued sticker.
For additional serving, participants just have to raise his/her hand to be approached by the assigned personnel in his/her table.
Most importantly, strictly no taking out of un-consumed ripe mangoes./PN
